Construction has started at Lapu Lapu in the Kentlands neighborhood of Gaithersburg.
Back in October we let you know that Lapu Lapu, which will be the sister restaurant of popular Rockville/North Bethesda/Kensington restaurant Kuya Ja’s Lechon Belly, announced via Instagram that it was coming soon.
A winter weather advisory is in effect for MoCo from 1pm Sunday until 1am Monday morning. The advisory calls for 1-3 inches of snow followed by ice accumulations of up to one tenth of an inch.
The timeline remains, with snow expected to start for our area in the afternoon before switching over to sleet and freezing rain later in the evening and finally changing to all rain on Sunday night.

The latest maps from the National Weather Service are now showing less snow, but more ice from the winter storm that is headed our way tomorrow.

The food and dining site Eater serves as a local restaurant guide, offering reviews as well as news about the restaurant industry. Eater’s DC site recently released a list of “15 Standout Thai Restaurants Around DC” touting the diverse selection of Thai restaurants that show off the variety of dishes and traditions the Southeast Asian nation has to offer.
Buffalo Wings and Beer has closed in the Cloverly Village Center (15412 New Hamphire Ave), according to employees of the restaurant who told us the restaurant closed on January 4th.
Earlier this month, signage was placed on the window stating the restaurant was closed temporarily due to a staffing shortage, but the pool tables and juke boxes were removed from the restaurant. Google now lists the restaurant as permanently closed.
Update: January 17, 2022 – Carlos Manuel Castro-Perez has been located safe and unharmed.

Right now it looks like snow will move into the area in the afternoon hours and continue into the evening before changing over to ice and eventually rain. Since the ground will be cold from temperatures that’ll likely remain below 30° until early Monday morning when temps can reach the mid to upper 30s. Sunday evening should be a mess and it may carry over into Monday morning.
