STATEMENT FROM TOWN COMMISSION

“It is with regret that the Commissioners of Poolesville announce that Tony Tomasello will be leaving his position as Poolesville town manager in April 2022. Tony began serving the Town in August of 2021 after a thorough candidate search that involved a citizen advisory board (which selected Tony as its top pick), multiple interviews, and utilizing a professional screening and assessment tool.


Germantown

Back in May we let you know that Tropical Smoothie Café would be coming to Germantown. Now we know that the cafe will open the day after Christmas, December 26, 2021, at 9am.

Tropical Smoothie Café has opened many new locations in MoCo in the last couple years and their latest location will be at 19828 Century Blvd in the Germantown Town Center, according to InvenTrust Properties. The location was formerly home to Verizon.


MoCo Police

Montgomery County Police Officer Noah A. Leotta passed away on this day in 2015. A week prior, on December 3rd 2015, Leotta was struck by a drunk driver while performing a traffic stop on Rockville Pike. Noah was working that night as part of the department’s Holiday Alcohol Task Force.

The man convicted of killing Officer Noah Leotta was released this past May from prison on good behavior credit.


East County

Located at 11207 New Hampshire Ave, the owners of the bowling alley are currently involved in a dispute with their landlord and insurance company after damage caused by Tropical Storm Ida uncovered a few more serious issues, causing the bowling alley to close temporarily.

The owners of the bowling alley have shared their points of view in the description of a GoFundMe that has raised nearly $5,000 in just 14 hours (with a goal of $500,000).
