The National Weather Service has issued a Heat Advisory for Wednesday and an Extreme Heat Watch for Thursday and Friday for Montgomery County, the District of Columbia, and much of the surrounding region as dangerously hot and humid conditions are expected to return.
Noodle King, a “Asian Noodle and Hong Kong cuisine” restaurant located at 12705 New Hampshire Ave. in Colesville, is temporarily closed following a recent kitchen fire.
Montgomery County health and emergency management officials are urging residents to take precautions as a prolonged period of dangerous heat and humidity is expected to impact the region from Wednesday, July 1, through at least Sunday, July 5. (more…)

Metro is preparing for one of the busiest travel days of the year as hundreds of thousands of people are expected to head to Washington, D.C., for Fourth of July festivities celebrating the 250th anniversary of the United States. To help move crowds, Metro will offer free rides systemwide from 5pm until 2am while increasing Metrorail service throughout the evening.
