Crime

Today, the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the District of Maryland announced the arrest of Evester Edd, 64, of Silver Spring, Maryland. Edd, a former senior human resources employee for the Peace Corps, is charged with wire fraud, theft of government funds, and making false statements to federal agents.

A federal judge has granted a preliminary injunction in a multistate lawsuit joined by Maryland Attorney General Anthony Brown, temporarily blocking the Kennedy administration’s plan to restructure the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services and lay off thousands of employees. (more…)


MCDOT

The Montgomery County Police Department (MCPD) and the Montgomery County Department of Transportation (MCDOT) are urging residents to plan ahead for a sober ride during the Fourth of July weekend, citing increased traffic risks from impaired and distracted driving. Law enforcement will increase DUI enforcement, and programs like SoberRide will offer discounted Lyft rides to promote safe travel. (more…)
