Park Police

The Maryland National Capital Park Police (Montgomery County Division) assured residents that signs posted along the Sligo Creek Trail in Takoma Park regarding alligators were not posted by county or state officials and appear to be a prank.

Montgomery County Councilmembers Andrew Friedson and Natali Fani-González announced the “More Housing N.O.W.” package, a comprehensive plan to address the county’s housing crisis by increasing workforce housing, converting vacant office spaces into homes, and expanding homeownership programs. The package aims to provide affordable housing for middle-class workers, including teachers, firefighters, and healthcare professionals, while focusing on building housing along key corridors without changing zoning in residential neighborhoods.

Downtown Silver Spring

Yesterday we reported that Montgomery County’s last remaining Jerry’s Subs & Pizza (8517 Colesville Rd. Silver Spring, MD) will close permanently on Friday, January 31st, based on two phone call conversations with the store. Today, several readers have shared they tried making one last trip and the restaurant was already closed. One reader stated he spoke with employees who were inside and was told the restaurant closed earlier than expected. Phone calls made to Jerry’s were not answered Tuesday afternoon.
