Col. (Ret.) Mike Bowers as Maryland Veterans Commission Chair.

Chevy Chase

During the premiere of his new FOX series, Secret Service, Gordon Ramsay visited the Parthenon in Chevy Chase. The restaurant, a local fixture since 1989, is owned by Montgomery County resident Pete Gouskos. Our very own “Mr. MoCo,” Alex Tsironis, stopped by on Monday evening to check out the updates—photos below.

Derwood

Maryland-National Capital Park Police (Montgomery County Division) responded to Lake Frank in Derwood on Saturday for a juvenile bald eagle caught in fishing line with a hook in its mouth. The eagle was rescued, treated at the Moon Owl Raptor Center, and will be released soon.

Event

Come enjoy the day at our annual Washington Grove Arts and Craft Festival in a beautiful outdoor setting. This festival highlights local artisans including wood creations, pottery, visual art, household products and so much more. We also have food trucks from El Parente Tacos, El Jeffe Wood-fired pizzas, Bruster’s Ice Cream and beverages from Saints Row Brewery. Bring the whole family because we have a kids activity area too. Education

Updated to include letter sent to the community

A major pipe burst at Gaithersburg High School has forced the closure of the special education hallway and approximately 20 classrooms as of Tuesday morning, according to a school source (video below).


Bethesda

The Greek Orthodox Church of St. George in Bethesda, MD, will hold its annual Greek Festival on Saturday, May 31 from 12pm-9pm, and Sunday, June 1, 2025 from 12pm-7pm. The festival will be held on the church grounds at 7701 Bradley Boulevard in Bethesda, and is free and open to the public.
