Bring your family and friends to our free , all-day outdoor Oktoberfest celebration. These will be an outdoor craft fair featuring local artisans and professional woodworkers, a chainsaw carving, woodworking and tool demonstrations by Festool, Montgomery Wood Turners and Carvers. There will also be lots of delicious food provided by El Parente Tacos, El Jeffe Wood-fired pizzas, Bruster's Ice cream and seasonal craft brews from Saints Row Brwsing Company.
On Monday, Montgomery County Executive Marc Elrich vetoed Expedited Bill 2-25, which would have provided a 20-year, 100% property tax exemption for converting underused commercial buildings into rental housing, arguing it lacked fiscal safeguards, offered excessive benefits to developers without proven need, and could harm county revenues, racial equity, and community stability.
Peter’s Carryout, located at 8017 Wisconsin Ave., has been a Bethesda staple for decades, celebrated for serving what many call Bethesda’s best steak and cheese. Smoothie King is now open at 20630 Seneca Meadows Parkway at the Shops at Seneca Meadows development (where Wegmans is located) in Germantown. Smoothie King is located in part of the space that was previously home to DaMarco The Italian Place, with F45 Training occupying the other portion of the space. (more…)

The Maryland Park Service has announced that it will temporarily close Greenbrier State Park, the home of “Maryland’s Secret Beach” from May 5-9 as contractors repave the entrance road as part of ongoing upgrades to the park’s front entrance and contact station. These upgrades will help reduce traffic backups on busy weekends and holidays.
Back in January 2024 we let you know that Eggspectation, a restaurant that serves “elevated American cuisine with a lengthy all-day breakfast menu alongside hearty lunch and dinner fare”, is returning to Montgomery County with its upcoming Burtonsville location (15763 Old Columbia Pike). The restaurant is now set to open soon with almost all interior construction complete (photo below).
