Quince Orchard High School is suspending it’s football program after six individuals at the high school have tested positve for COVID-19.
Dr. Travis Gayles Resigns as Montgomery County’s Public Health Officer
Dr. Travis Gayles will be leaving his position as the County’s Public Health Officer on Sept. 12. Montgomery County Executive Marc Elrich released the following statement this morning after Gayles announced his decision.

Montgomery County Leaders Discussing Local Vaccine Passport
During Wednesdays weekly COVID-19 update, County Executive Marc Elrich said that he supported the development of a regional or statewide vaccination passport for entry into businesses such as gyms and restaurants.
Yesterday, Hank Dietle’s announced that it would require proof of vaccination or a negative covid test 48 hours prior to any event.
Soon after, popular DC Area live music venues, The Anthem, 9:30 Club, Merriweather Post Pavilion, and a Lincoln Theatre, released a joint message that they would also be requiring any patrons who attend live events to be vaccinated or provide proof of a negative covid test within 72 hours of a live event.
Hank Dietle’s Tavern recently reopened its doors after three years of being closed due to a fire in February of 2018.
Earlier today the oldest bar in MoCo, located at 11010 Rockville Pike in Rockville, shared that proof of vaccination or a negative covid test taken within 48 hours of any scheduled event will be required for entry.
Beyond MoCo: DC Mask Mandate Could Stay in Effect Through Thanksgiving, Depending on Vaccination Rates
NBC 4’s Mark Segraves tweeted today that according to DC health officials, the current mask mandate could last a few more weeks and possibly through Thanksgiving if vaccinations do not increase.
