5:25 PM Update: We received a message from Anytime Fitness letting us know that it was an Anytime Fitness staff member who revived his client at the gym.

Montgomery County Fire and Rescue Services responded to a call of a man who went into cardiac arrest at Anytime Fitness on the 4200 block of Howard Avenue, near Knowles Ave, in Kensington around 4pm this afternoon.

Following a multiyear renovation, the First Presidency of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints recently announced that the Washington D.C. Temple would be open for public tours for the first time since 1974. Due to high demand, the open house will be extended and the rededication of the temple will now be on August 14th, 2022.

Olive & Loom, a Mediterranean-inspired lifestyle and apothecary boutique that opened in Pike & Rose in March 2019, announced via Instagram that it will be moving in with its sister business Kin & Care. Kin & Care is a hand -poured, small batch, scented candle company located in Kensington.

Owner Ferzan Jaeger, a Turkish-born mother of two who started her business inspired by the Turkish Baths/Hamam rooted in the rich history of the Ottoman Empire, announced on Instagram that the lease is up at the end of January. In Kensington, she says, they’ll be able to put both businesses under one roof and hope to continue the retail side of Olive & Loom, while offering candle pouring classes in the studio.

Back in January we let you know about plans for Kensington Crossing– a new retail development that will be located at 10619 Connecticut Avenue (at Plyers Mill Road) in Kensington. Now we know that the development has signed its first tenant to take over its largest space (2,635 SF)– M&T Bank, which currently has a Kensington location on Howard Avenue.

No word yet on if this will be a second Kensington branch, but the likely scenario would involve the current branch moving to the new space. Per HRretail, only two locations remain available for lease (Spaces C and D). No word yet on what is moving in to the other spaces that have been leased.

A husband and wife team of DJs are opening Love People Records, a record store, that’ll be located inside of Antique Village I at 3758 Howard Avenue in Kensington.

The couple, Rita (Reets) and Quartermaine, lives in MoCo. Reets grew up in Takoma Park and Quartermaine grew up in Brooklyn, NY. They’ve been DJing in the area for a combined 20+ years.

PGA TOUR Superstore will be taking over most of the  location that was formerly home to Shoppers at 5100 Nicholson Lane in White Flint Plaza, according to a report from Washington Business Journals. Construction is ongoing at Aldi, which is taking over the other side of the old Shoppers location.

PGA TOUR Superstore is one of the biggest retailers in the golf industry, with more than 40 locations in 16 states. They opened a location in nearby Fairfax last year. All stores are staffed with certified teaching professionals, state-of-the-art swing simulators and hitting bays, an expansive putting green, and an in-house club making and repair facility. Each location also offers an extensive assortment of men’s, women’s and junior’s golf clubs, footwear, accessories, golf balls and multiple lines of apparel for men, women and juniors.
