On November 1, 1864, six months before the end of the Civil War, Maryland became the first state south of the Mason-Dixon Line to abolish slavery through voting. One year later, the 13th amendment was ratified.

Maryland Early In-Person Voting Starts Today
Due to COVID-19, all Marylanders are encouraged to vote by mail this year by the State Board of Elections.Mail-in ballots must be postmarked or placed in a designated drop box by 8pm on November 3, 2020.
