Shania Adams was last seen on Friday, March 10, 2023, at approximately 4:15 p.m., in the 3500 block of Pear Tree Ct. Adams is approximately 5-feet, 2-inches tall and weighs 120 pounds. She has brown eyes and black hair styled in a ponytail. She was last seen a pink bonnet, a black and grey puffy coat, a black t-shirt, black leggings and green Crocs with a bow. Police and family are concerned about her welfare.

Montgomery County Police issued a press release today announcing that a traffic stop in Germantown on February 17 led to the discovery of a stolen semi-automatic rifle and drug paraphernalia containing methamphetamine. Last week, MCPD announced that a separate traffic stop led to the discovery of over 2,000 fentanyl pills. Traffic stops have been the topic of debate recently as Councilmember Will Jawando introduced Bill 12-23, the Safety and Traffic Equity in Policing (STEP) Act, on February 28, which will limit traffic stops that he says have resulted in racial disparities.
Per MCPD: Officers from the Montgomery County Department of Police – 5th District Community Action Team have filed criminal charges against 28-year-old Humberto Guerra Jr. of Silver Spring and 41-year-old Freya Marla Casanova, unknown address, following a February traffic stop. On Friday, February 17, 2023, at approximately 11:25 p.m., officers observed a Toyota Camry travel eastbound on Wisteria Dr. and Great Seneca Hwy. Officers initiated a traffic stop of the Toyota for maintaining a suspended registration in the area of Middlebrook Rd. and Great Seneca Hwy.
Per MCPD: Detectives from the Montgomery County Department of Police – Wheaton Patrol Investigation Unit are asking for the public’s assistance in locating a 55-year-old man wanted for a number of crimes committed in Montgomery County. Jonah Ammiel Carter of Gaithersburg is alleged to have committed larceny and burglaries in Burtonsville, Silver Spring, and Kensington. Carter is reported to have stolen large quantities of items from a Giant Food in the 1200 block of East West Highway, on Monday, January 16 and a Giant Food in the 15000 block of Old Columbia Pike on Monday, February 6, 2023. He is also accused of stealing a large amount of items from a Safeway in the 10000 block of Connecticut Avenue in Kensington on Wednesday, November 16, 2022.

Per MCPD: Detectives from the Montgomery County Department of Police – Major Crimes Division are asking for the public’s assistance in locating a missing 32-year-old from Gaithersburg. Hakeem Saud Morris was last seen on Friday, February 3, 2023, at approximately 7 a.m., leaving his residence in Gaithersburg.

Per MCPD: A Rockville man has been indicted by a Montgomery County grand jury on charges related to a fatal collision that occurred on Sunday, August 14, 2022. The investigation revealed that 21-year-old Kevin Saul Orihuela was under the influence of alcohol and was driving a 2019 Audi A4 eastbound on Josiah Henson Parkway at a high rate of speed prior to the collision.
At approximately 4:12 p.m., Orihuela struck a 2014 Ford Fusion driven by 62-year-old Noel Henry Powell of Germantown. Powell was transported to an area hospital, where he was pronounced dead shortly after the collision. The charges against Orihuela include grossly negligent manslaughter by vehicle, homicide under the influence of alcohol, homicide under the influence of alcohol per se, and homicide while impaired by alcohol.
Per MCPD: Detectives from the Montgomery County Department of Police – Special Investigations Division (SID) and Special Victims Investigations Division (SVID) have arrested and charged 22-year-old Erik Calderon Pereira, of Olney, with third-degree sexual offense and sexual solicitation of a minor for engaging in illicit sex acts with a minor between December 2021 and February 2023. Detectives have released a photo of the suspect, Calderon, and are asking any victims to come forward.
In January 2023, detectives initiated an investigation after receiving a complaint about a 15-year-old juvenile female who had allegedly been given drugs in exchange for illicit sex acts. Through the investigation, detectives identified Calderon as the suspect and determined that he gave drugs several times to the 15-year-old juvenile female who would in return preformed illicit sex acts on him. On Monday, February 27, 2023, an arrest warrant was obtained for Calderon. On Tuesday, February 28, 2023, Calderon was arrested in Olney and transported to the Montgomery County Central Processing Unit, where he was released on a $20,000 unsecured personal bond.
One person has died following a shooting Tuesday night near the Avery Park Apartments on Hampshire Green Lane in Silver Spring, on the border of Montgomery and Prince George’s counties. According to police, “at approximately 9:02 p.m., 3rd District officers and Montgomery County Fire Rescue personnel responded to the 1800 block of Hampshire Green Ln. for the report of a shooting.
Upon arrival, officers located an adult male suffering from apparent gunshot wounds. The victim was transported to an area hospital where he was pronounced dead. There is no one in custody. This is an active and ongoing investigation.”
Per MCPD: Two young women have died following a single vehicle collision in the early morning hours of Saturday, March 4, 2023. At approximately 4:07 a.m., a black 2012 Infiniti G37 with possibly four occupants crashed into a utility pole on Montrose Road near Hitching Post Lane. For reasons still under investigation, the Infiniti lost control, struck the center median, left the roadway, hitting a fire hydrant, electrical control box and several other fixed objects, before crashing into the utility pole.
19-year-old Leslie Kristin Ventura of Germantown was pronounced dead on scene. A second passenger, 19-year-old Kailey Briana Vigil of Rockville, was transported to an area hospital in critical condition, where she succumbed to her injuries and died on Monday, March 6. A third passenger left the location before officers arrived. The driver was transported to an area hospital with minor injuries.
