Montgomery County Police responded to reports of a shooting Saturday night at Pike & Rose. According to MCPD,  “At approximately 11:50 p.m., MCPD responded to the area of Pike and Rose for the report of a shooting. Preliminarily investigation revealed a dispute occurred inside a restaurant. The male subjects left the restaurant. Shots were fired. No injuries were reported. Items of evidentiary value were recovered at the scene. No one is in custody at this time. This is an ongoing investigation.”

Per MCPD: Detectives from the Montgomery County Department of Police – Special Victims Investigations Division (SVID) are asking for the public’s assistance in locating missing teenage sisters from Silver Spring. Ashley Yarel Ramirez Espinoza, age 14, and Camila Raquel Maldonado Ramirez, age 12, were last seen on Thursday, April 13, 2023, at approximately 7 p.m., in the 3700 block of Bel Pre Rd.

Ashley is approximately 5-feet, 2-inches tall and weighs 150 pounds. She has black eyes and black shoulder length hair. It is unknown what she was last seen wearing.
Camila is approximately 5-feet, 3-inches tall and weighs 150 pounds. She has brown eyes and long black hair. It is unknown what she was last seen wearing. Police and family are concerned for their welfare.

Per MCPD: Detectives from the Montgomery County Department of Police – 3rd District Investigative Section are investigating an attempted strong-arm robbery that occurred on Wednesday, March 15, 2023.  At approximately 1 p.m., 3rd District officers responded to the 8500 block of Colesville Road for the report of an attempted strong-arm robbery that just occurred.

The initial investigation has revealed that the victim was walking north in the 8500 block of Colesville Road when two unknown female suspects approached her from behind. One of the suspects grabbed the victim’s hair, pulled her down to the ground and began striking the victim in the upper body and head, while the second suspect attempted to take the victim’s jacket.  Unable to remove the victim’s jacket, the suspects verbally threatened the victim and then fled the area on foot.

The suspects are described as two Black females with medium skin tones. The first suspect is described as heavy set, wearing a blue jean jacket, black pants and a bonnet on her head. The second suspect is described as slender with braces on her teeth, wearing a white long sleeve shirt, black pants, black and white sneakers and a bonnet on her head.

Montgomery County Police responded to a shooting around 10:15pm on Thursday, April 13 on Fairdale Rd, near Bradshaw Dr and Fairland Elementary School. According to MCPD, “3rd District officers and MCFRS responded to the 14300 block of Fairland Rd. for the report of a shooting.  An adult male victim was located suffering from an apparent gunshot wound. He was transported to an area hospital with serious, but non-life threatening injuries.  No suspect(s) in custody at this time.  This is an active and ongoing investigation.”

According to public safety reporter Cordell Pugh, the victim was struck while inside of a home after shots were fired outside and rounds penetrated the nearby residence.

Per MCPD: The body of an adult male recovered along the Potomac River on Monday, April 3, 2023, has been identified. Officers were called to the area south of the Angler’s boat ramp at approximately 2 p.m. for the report of a body in the water. The body was transported to the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner and identified as 56-year-old Neil Bernstein of Rockville. Bernstein was reported missing and last seen on Friday, February 17 in Great Falls Park near Macarthur Blvd. on the Maryland side. He was positively identified on Monday, April 10.

Original Missing Person Report: Detectives from the Montgomery County Department of Police – 2nd District Investigative Section are asking for the public’s assistance in locating a missing 56-year-old from Rockville.  Neil Bernstein was last heard from on Friday, February 17, 2023, at approximately 9:53 a.m. He is missing from Twinbrook Parkway in Rockville. Bernstein is approximately 5-feet, 9-inches tall and weighs 150 lbs. He has short grey and brown hair and green eyes.  Police and family are concern for his welfare. Detectives from the Montgomery County Department of Police – Special Victims Investigations Division (SVID) are asking for the public’s assistance in locating Zybreiah Nyasis Jackson, a missing 14-year-old from Rockville. Jackson was last seen on Sunday, April 2, 2023, in the 1300 block of First Street.  Jackson is 5-feet, 2-inches tall and weighs approximately 150 pounds. She has brown eyes and brown hair that she wears in long braids. She was last seen wearing a black sweatshirt, black leggings and black slip-on sandals.  Police and family are concerned for her welfare.

Montgomery County Police are investigating a burglary that occurred on March 4th at Cubano’s in Bethesda. MCPD tweeted the following on Tuesday, April 11: “Detectives from the 2D Patrol Investigations Unit are investigating a theft that occurred on Sat., March 4, at the Cubano’s Restaurant in the 4900 block of Cordell Ave. Detectives are asking for the public’s assistance in identifying the suspect.” Video below.

Cubano’s opened its Bethesda location in February 2020 and has additional locations in Silver Spring (1201 Fidler Ln.) and Fort Lauderdale, FL.

Per MCPD: The Montgomery County Department of Police – Collision Reconstruction Unit (CRU) is investigating a serious pedestrian collision that occurred on Monday, April 10, 2023. At approximately 4:21 p.m., 1st District officers, Montgomery County Fire Rescue and Montgomery County Animal Services personnel responded to the 6300 block of Muncaster Mill Rd. for the report of a traffic collision involving a pedestrian. The preliminary investigation by detectives has determined that a Red Toyota Corolla was traveling south on Muncaster Mill Rd., prior to Bowie Mill Rd., when for reasons still under investigation, the driver struck the 17-year-old female victim, who was walking her two dogs across the street. The driver of the striking vehicle remained at the scene.

The victim was transported to an area hospital with life-threatening injuries. Her two dogs died at the scene. This is an active and ongoing investigation. Anyone with information regarding this collision is asked to contact CRU detectives at 240-773-6620.
