Takoma Park

Per MCPD: Detectives from the Montgomery County Department of Police – Special Victims Investigations Division (SVID) are asking for the public’s assistance in locating, Jennifer Soto Muralles, a missing 16-year-old from Takoma Park. Muralles was last seen on Thursday, February, 2, 2023, between 5 p.m. and 6 p.m., in the 8500 block of Greenwood Avenue.

Muralles is 5-feet, 4-inches tall and weighs approximately 120 pounds. She has blue hair and brown eyes. She has a tattoo of a flower on her hand and another on the inside of her left forearm. She was last seen wearing a brown t-shirt and sweater, black pants and black boots. Police and family are concerned for her welfare.


MoCo Police

Per MCPD: Montgomery County Department of Police Chief Marcus Jones is pleased to announce the hiring of Mariela Leon as the Hispanic Community Liaison. Leon joined the County in 2015, where she worked with the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) as an Income Assistance Program Specialist (Case Manager). In this role she worked closely with county residents of all ethnicities, providing Spanish language translation; helped residents in need of medical assistance; worked with undocumented pregnant women and children to obtain medical coverage; and referred victims of sexual assault to the Victim Assistance and Sexual Assault Program or the Crisis Center.

In 2017, Leon transferred to the Office of Human Resources.  As a Recruitment specialist, she worked on improving hiring in Montgomery County Government as part of the Latino Workforce team. She wrote how-to guides on the recruitment process in Spanish, provided bilingual support to candidates and created social media accounts for the recruitment and selection team. Leon’s family immigrated from Central America. Her father is from Guatemala and mother is from El Salvador. She is the first person in her family to attend a university, earning a Bachelor of Applied Science and Criminal Justice, and a Master of Business Administration with a concentration in Human Resources Management. Leon has a passion for helping others and is excited to be a part of the Montgomery County Police Department. She is assigned to the Office of Public Information.


Montgomery Village

Per MCPD: Detectives from the Montgomery County Department of Police – Special Victims Investigations Division (SVID) are asking for the public’s assistance in locating a missing 17-year-old from Montgomery Village. Lesly Hernandez Perez was last seen on Wednesday, March 22, 2023, at approximately 7 a.m., in the 8300 block of Stedmall Ter.

Perez is approximately 5-feet, 4-inches tall and weighs 130 pounds. She has brown eyes and brown hair and was last seen wearing a pink jacket, blue jeans and white shoes. Police and family are concerned for her welfare.


Rockville

Montgomery County Fire and Rescue Services responded to a collision on Muncaster Mill Rd on Monday, April 10. According to Montgomery County Police, “At approximately 4:24 p.m., 1st District officers and Montgomery County Fire Rescue personnel responded to the 6300 block of Muncaster Mill Rd. for the report of traffic collision involving a pedestrian. The preliminary investigation has revealed that a 17-year-old female was walking two dogs in the area of the Upper Rock Creek Trail, when for reasons still under investigation, she was struck by a vehicle. The driver of the striking vehicle remained on scene. The two dogs died at the scene. The victim was transported to an area hospital with life-threatening injuries.  This is an active and ongoing investigation.”

Rockville

Muncaster Mill Rd. is closed between Bowie Mill Rd. and Needwood Rd. as the result of a traffic collision involving a pedestrian. Drivers should expect delays and seek an alternate route. Montgomery County Police tweeted the following at 5:30pm on Monday, April 10:

Silver Spring

Per MCPD: Detectives from the Montgomery County Department of Police – Major Crimes Division are investigating a homicide that occurred on Sunday, April 9, 2023, on Old Columbia Pike in Silver Spring.  At approximately 3:22 a.m., 3rd District officers responded to a residence in the 11800 block of Old Columbia Pike to assist Montgomery County Fire Rescue Services.  Upon arrival, officers located an adult male with trauma to the body. Officers provided life saving measures to the victim who was then transported to an area hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

The decedent has been identified as 20-year-old, Carlos Rashard Carter of Silver Spring. The Office of the Chief Medical Examiner in Baltimore will conduct an autopsy to officially determine the cause and manner of the death. There is currently no suspect in custody and this is an active and ongoing investigation.  Anyone with information regarding this homicide is asked to contact Crime Solvers of Montgomery County toll-free at 1-866-455-TIPS (8477). A reward of up to $10,000 is being offered for information that leads to the arrest of the suspect(s). Callers can remain anonymous.


Gaithersburg

Lemus-Castro is 5-feet, 1-inch tall and weighs 166 pounds. He has brown eyes, brown hair and a tattoo of his initials on his forearm. He was last seen wearing a green shirt, blue shorts and white Puma flip flops. Lemus-Castro is possibly driving a silver 4-door Honda sedan. Family and police are concerned for his welfare.

White Oak

Montgomery County Police are investigating a homicide that occurred on Sunday, April 9, 2023, on Old Columbia Pike in Silver Spring.  Per MCPD“At approximately 3:22 a.m., Montgomery County Police responded to a residence in the 11800 block of Old Columbia Pike to assist Montgomery County Fire Rescue.

Wheaton

Per MCPD: Detectives from the Montgomery County Department of Police – Major Crimes Division, are investigating a fatal stabbing on Amherst Ave. in Wheaton. On Wednesday, April 5, 2023, at approximately 12:23 p.m., 4th District officers responded to a stabbing that just occurred in front of Montgomery County Public Parking Garage #45, in the 11300 block of Amherst Ave. Upon Arrival, officers located 28-year-old Amontae Robert Cunningham of Rockville, with what appeared to be a stab wound. Cunningham was transported to an area hospital where he was pronounced dead.

Homicide detectives responded to the scene and through the course of the investigation, learned that Cunningham, who was a passenger on a WMATA Metro bus, got into an argument with an unknown male suspect. The bus driver stopped the bus in front of the parking garage on Amherst Ave. and Cunningham got off the bus. The suspect followed Cunningham off the bus and stabbed Cunningham. Detectives are asking for any passengers on the bus before the stabbing to contact the Major Crimes Division at 240-773-5070. Anyone with information regarding this suspect or this crime, is asked to contact Crime Solvers of Montgomery County toll-free at 1-866-411-TIPS (8477). Aspen Hill

The investigation by detectives has revealed that at approximately 7:54 p.m., the three suspects entered the store, stole a large amount of merchandise and left the scene. The first suspect is described as a Hispanic male, in his twenties or thirties, with black short hair, wearing a black Jordan hat, a black mask, a plaid long sleeved-bottom shirt, blue jeans and black/white Nike tennis shoes. The second suspect is described as a Hispanic female, in her twenties or thirties, with long blue hair, carrying a brown purse and wearing a plaid dress and gray tennis shoes.


Silver Spring

On Saturday, October 22, 2022, Montgomery County Police responded to a call for a robbery that just occurred. The victim, an adult male, stated that he had met the suspect on a dating app and the two exchanged messages.The suspect, later identified as Kane, and the victim agreed to meet. Shortly after arriving at the address given to him, the victim was physically assaulted by Kane, who then stole the victim’s wallet and forced the victim out of the apartment.

Kane was arrested on Thursday, April 6, 2023 and charged with two counts of robbery and first degree assault. Anyone who believes they may have been a victim by Brandon Darryl Kane, is asked to contact the Third District Investigative Section at 240-773-6870.
