At approximately 4:14 p.m., 3rd District officers responded to the location for the report of a strong-armed robbery that just occurred. The investigation by detectives has determined that the juvenile male victim entered the pharmacy to make a purchase. The suspects then surrounded the victim while inside the pharmacy and demanded the hooded sweatshirt he was wearing. The victim complied with the suspects’ demand and handed over his sweatshirt. The suspects then exited the pharmacy and left the scene. Detectives reviewed the surveillance cameras of the pharmacy and obtained video footage of the suspects.

Detectives from the Montgomery County Department of Police – Special Victims Investigations Ask for Public’s Assistance Locating Missing 25-Year-Old

Detectives from the Montgomery County Department of Police – 5th District Investigative Section are asking for the public’s assistance in locating a missing 25-year-old woman from Damascus. Johnnai Antawojue Miracle Slater was last seen on Thursday, December 8, 2022, at approximately 2:15 a.m., in the area of Honeysuckle Ct.

Slater is described as approximately 5-feet, 4-inches tall and weighs 130 pounds. She has brown eyes and brown hair, styled in braids. She was last seen wearing a black trench coat and red Jordan sneakers. She was also carrying a Dell laptop. Police and family are concerned for her welfare.

MCPD Detectives Investigate Theft of Wallet and Credit Card Fraud in Gaithersburg; Surveillance Photo of Suspects Released

Per MCPD: Detectives from the Montgomery County Department of Police- 6th District Investigative Section are asking for the public’s assistance in identifying two suspects who committed a theft and credit card fraud in Gaithersburg. On Friday, November 18, 2022, the victim reported that her wallet was stolen while she was shopping at the Sam’s Club store located at 600 N Frederick Ave. The suspects then used the victim credit card at the DICKS’s Sporting Goods store located at 2 Grand Corner Ave. Detectives were able to obtain a surveillance photo of the suspects.

A reward of up to $10,000 is being offered for information that leads to the arrest of the suspect. Callers may remain anonymous.

Second Suspect Arrested and Charged with Armed Carjacking and Popeyes Armed Robbery

Per MCPD: Detectives have arrested and charged 30-year-old Kevin Smith, unknown address, with the armed carjacking on White Oak Vista Ct. and the armed robbery of the Popeyes on Lockwood Dr. that occurred on Thursday, November 10, 2022. Through the investigation, detectives identified Smith as the second suspect involved in the armed carjacking and armed robbery of the Popeyes. On November 27, 2022, detectives obtained an arrest warrant for Smith, charging him with armed carjacking and robbery related charges.

On November 30, 2022, officers located Smith in a vehicle and attempted to arrest him in the area of Castle Blvd. and Briggs Chaney Rd. Smith exited the vehicle and ran away towards the Sport Chevrolet dealership in the 3000 block of Automobile Blvd., where he hid a black fanny pack under a vehicle.

Gun Store Employee Facing Assault and Weapons Charges After Shooting at Montgomery County Police Officer

Per MCPD: A 42-year-old man has been arrested after shooting at a Montgomery County Police officer the morning of Tuesday, December 6, 2022. As a result of recent gun store burglaries, Montgomery County Police officers were on proactive patrol in the 700 block of East Gude Dr., when at approximately 12:30 a.m., an employee of Engage Armament ran towards the officer’s unmarked car and began shooting, hitting the unmarked car twice.

The employee, Andrew S. Raymond, of Darnestown, was outside of the store when the Montgomery County Police officer drove into the parking lot of Engage Armament. The officer witnessed a white male run towards his vehicle, while reaching into his waistband. The officer attempted to drive away when he heard gunshots. He then radioed for assistance and gave officers a description of the shooter. The officer noticed Raymond running towards his vehicle and he activated his emergency equipment, signaling that he was a police officer. Raymond immediately stopped, dropped his weapon, raised his hands and was taken into custody.

Police Investigating Death of Seventy-Four-Year-Old Man Found in Car Pulled From Water at Edward’s Ferry (Poolesville); Victim’s Identity Released

Per MCPD: Detectives from the Montgomery County Department of Police – Major Crimes Division are conducting a death investigation after locating a man found dead in his car on Sunday, December 4, 2022. On Sunday, December 4, 2022, at approximately 10:38 a.m., 1st District officers and Montgomery County Fire Rescue personnel responded to the 15200 block of Edwards Ferry Rd. for the report of a car in the river.

74-year-old Johnnie Bouknight, of Upper Marlboro, was located deceased in the car. The preliminary investigation by detectives does not indicate any signs of foul play in the death of Bouknight. The Office of the Chief Medical Examiner in Baltimore will conduct an autopsy to officially determine the cause and manner of death. Bouknight was reported missing from Prince George’s County on Saturday, December 3, 2022, and was last seen at approximately 10 a.m. that day.

Detectives Investigate Church Burglary; Video of Suspects Released

At approximately 11 p.m., 2nd District officers responded to the location for the report of a burglary that just occurred. The investigation by detectives has revealed that the suspects forced entry into the church, vandalized property and left the scene. Detectives reviewed the surveillance cameras of the property and obtained video of the suspects.

Suspect Identified in Foot Locker Armed Robbery

Per MCPD: On Friday, September 9, 2022, Kenneth Shawn Purvis entered a Foot Locker store in the 8600 block of Colesville Rd. asked to try on a pair of shoes and stated he wanted to purchase them. When Purvis approached the counter, he appeared to attempt to use his phone to pay with a mobile app and then took cash out of his pocket. He then grabbed a pair of scissors that were on the counter, walked behind the counter and demanded that the employee get out of his way.

The employee complied with his demands. Purvis then took the sneakers from the clerk, removed his shoes and put on the new sneakers. Upon attempting to exit the store, the store manager confronted him. Purvis then brandished the scissors and threatened her before leaving the store.
