We stopped by the upcoming Burton’s location at 109 Commerce Square Pl in Gaithersburg and were told by management that the restaurant is scheduled to open at the end of May.
The restaurant is currently in the process of hiring and training staff, and the interior of the restaurant is almost finished.
Coming soon signage is up at Crumbl Cookies at 277 Kentlands Blvd in Gaithersburg, next to Panera, in the space that was formerly home to TD Ameritrade. Crumbl Cookies opened its first MoCo location in 2020 at Federal Plaza in Rockville. The chain will also be opening a Germantown location near Wegmans at at 20650 Seneca Meadows Pkwy, in what used to be home to Sprint, next to Sally Beauty.
Opening dates have not been provided for either upcoming locations, but neither seem to be anytime in the very near future as plenty of construction is left to go for both location. We do expect Germantown to come first as permanent signage is now up at the location and construction is ongoing inside.
Back in June of 2020 we let you know that Ela Mesa Taste of Greece would be coming to the Spectrum Town Center in Gaithersburg. After almost two years, the restaurant has announced it will hold its grand opening on Monday, May 2nd. The new Greek restaurant is located at 109 Paramount Park Drive in the Spectrum Town Center in Gaithersburg, which is currently home to restaurants like Barking Made Cafe, California Tortilla, Hot Pot Hero, and Firebirds.
The pandemic, coupled with permitting and supply chain issues, caused the delays in the restaurant’s opening. The restaurant will offer traditional Greek fare and will also have a full bar that seats 10 people. Ela Mesa will be open Monday through Saturday 11am-10pm, and Sunday 11am-9pm.

4/14/22: Baja Fresh at 302 King Farm Blvd, Unit 150 in Rockville has temporarily closed.
The Starbucks at 160 Kentlands Blvd in Gaithersburg is temporarily closed. We were told by a representative from the store that there was an issue with their computers and registers, and that they hope to be open tomorrow.
Starbucks was previously located at 121 Market St. in the Kentlands, which will soon be home to Java Nation. No opening date for Java Nation has been announced.
Bethesda Bagels announced on Monday that they would be closing its Dupont Circle location in Washington DC this Sunday, April 24, after failing to come to a lease agreement with the landlord of the property.
After nearly 12 years and millions and millions of bagels, our Dupont Circle location will be closing. Our last day will be Sunday, April 24th. Unfortunately, we have not been able to come to an agreement with our landlord to extend our lease. Our family is EXTREMELY THANKFUL for your support over the last decade plus. We will be relocating most of our employees to our other locations.

Yirasai was previously located at 5110 Ridgefield Road in the Westwood Shipping Center in Bethesda.
Per the Yirasai website, “Kim’s Yirasai Sushi and Café is owned and operated by Mr. Kim. He took over the restaurant from the previous owner in 2004 and has worked hard to make Yirasai a neighborhood gem.”
The Burger King located at 16004 Shady Grove Rd has reopened after being closed for renovations since the start of 2021. Along with Burger King comes Ripieno’s of Ocean City and Jo Jo’s Express, which has a location in Salisbury. All three restaurants have separate menus and cashiers and the setup of the restaurant is similar to that off a food hall/food court with a common dining area.
Ripieno’s features its famous 28” wood-fire pizza, calzones, and subs. JoJo’s Express features “American style” dishes like fried chicken, steak, and fried seafood. The Burger King has the standard Burger King menu and is available from the drive-thru (the other two restaurants are not available via drive-thru). All three restaurants also share a salad bar. Oak Chapel Church is hosting a drive-thru food distribution event today, and every Thursday, at 14500 Layhill Rd in Silver Spring from 11AM-1PM.
Groceries will be bagged and they ask that you remain in your vehicle. Walk ins are welcome.
True Food Kitchen at 221 Rio Blvd Ste 0221 in Gaithersburg (former Joe’s Crab Shack location) has announced it will be opening on April 25. The restaurant posted the news on Facebook:
