Our featured photograph is a yearbook photo of the Takoma Park Middle School basketball team (then known as the Takoma Blue Devils). #13 is Chris T. Sullivan. Chris T. Sullivan, one of the founders of @outback Steakhouse, is a Takoma Park Middle School and Blair High School alumnus. Sullivan attended the schools in the early/mid 60s before heading to the University of Kentucky to study business and economics.
After graduating in 1972, he became a restaurant manager at Steak & Ale before opening the first Outback with his partners in 1988. He and the other co-founders saw the chain expand to over 900 restaurants worldwide and grow to include Carrabba’s, Bonefish, and several other hospitality-related businesses. He has previously been CEO and president of OSI Restaurant Partners (the restaurant group he founded) and is currently a board member at Bloomin’ Brands.
Grill Kabob Making Some Progress at Research Row
Back in January we let you know that the fast-casual restaurant would be coming to Research Row (1409 Research Blvd). This week we checked in and saw that some progress has been made with the construction of The new location.
Soulfull Cafe, powered by Dawson’s Market, will have its socially distanced ribbon cutting on Wednesday, September 16th at 11:15am.

Beyond MoCo: Mozzeria, a Deaf-Owned and Operated Restaurant, is Now Open
Mozzeria, a deaf-owned and operated pizzeria, is located on 1300 H St. NE, down the street from Gallaudet University.
Back in May of 2019, we let you know that Ninja Sushi was coming to the Colesville Shopping Center. It is now open.
The sushi restaurant has taken over the old Patches Gift Shop location (13452 New Hampshire Ave), a few stores down from Greek Village.
Moe’s Southwest Grill recently came back to MoCo when the fast casual Mexican restaurant opened in the Wheaton Mall food court.
Many of you may remember that Moe’s previously had MoCo location last in Gaithersburg at the Potomac Valley shopping center until October of 2015, in Rockville Town Square (where Finnegan’s Wake is now located), and in Silver Spring on Tech Rd (where Qdoba is now located).
