Hi guys! My name is Demetra but you can call me Demi. I am a certified personal trainer and the owner of Demefit.com Online Personal Training! I am so excited to be able to share all of my fitness tips and discoveries throughout Montgomery County with you all!

This week we’ll be sharing some of the top activities you can dive into to start burning some extra calories and really work up a sweat in this heat! Just make sure you stay hydrated because this heat can be unbearable. Especially if your caught smack dab in the middle of afternoon rush-hour on 270 with a broken air cooling system.

Let’s get to the good stuff.

Bikeshare
I finally decided to buy a membership to cut down on my driving commute and bike to the station instead. That way I get to burn some extra calories on my way to work and have a nap on the metro! Win-win! My current membership is $8 monthly. Without the membership it is $7 to rent a bike. For up to 30 min the ride itself is free of charge. For an additional 30 min, $2 is tacked on. For 1 hour to 1.5 hours, the cost is an additional $6.

Black Hill Boats
Great upper body workout for those of you who love being in the water. I’ve hit the boats instead of going to the gym when the weather is nice out and let me tell you, you will sweat! Hours are from noon-6:00pm for $13 for weekdays and weekends $14 from 6:30am-6:00pm for all canoes, kayaks, and row boats.

Popular Meetups in Moco:

Mid-Atlantic Hikers Climbers Campers
If you enjoy hiking throughout the DMV, why not hike with a friend?

They play at Walter Johnson High School, Woodley Garden Park and Montgomery College in Rockville. This group is meant for intermediate levels and a yearly fee of just $10. Anyone who’s looking for some fun competitive tennis is welcomed to join.

Outdoor Co-ed Sunday soccer pickup games for young adults!

Teams are chosen randomly and each team plays till 2 goals are scored or a maximum of 4 minutes of play time per game. Just make sure you sign up to play on their facebook page because spots usually fill up pretty quickly.
