Detectives Investigate Strong-Armed Robbery of a Wendy’s; Surveillance Video Released

At approximately 6:30 p.m., 4th District officers responded to the 14000 block of Connecticut Avenue for the report of a strong-armed robbery that just occurred.

The investigation by detectives determined that the unknown suspect entered the Wendy’s and approached the counter to order food. Upon ordering the food, the suspect removed change from his pocket and handed it to the employee. When the employee opened the register to put the money in, the suspect immediately lunged over the counter and ripped the register tray out of the drawer. The suspect is described as a Black male in his twenties, approximately 5-feet, 10-inches tall, with a thin build. He was wearing a dark colored hooded-sweatshirt, black shorts, black socks and possibly, gray and black shoes.
