In addition to the emergency work on southbound I-270 prior to I-370 to repair a sinkhole, The Maryland Department of Transportation State Highway Administration (MDOT SHA) started a project last night, Wednesday, June 15, to resurface one mile of southbound I-270 (Eisenhower Highway) between MD 121 (Clarksburg Road) and MD 109 (Old Hundred Road) in Montgomery County. The resurfacing is part of an overall $4.3 million project to improve traffic flow by extending the acceleration lane along southbound I-270, beginning at the existing I-270 southbound truck weigh station, south of Old Hundred Road.

Crews are scheduled to work starting Wednesday night beginning at 7 p.m., requiring single- and multiple-lane closures on southbound I-270 within the project limits overnight until 4 a.m. Thursday, June 16. Work will continue 7 p.m. to 4 a.m. Sunday evenings through Friday mornings through mid-July. All work is weather permitting, and additional workdays and times may be needed to expedite the project and keep all resurfacing and pavement marking activity on schedule.
