CCI Health Services announced today that the organization will host an unveiling event for its new administrative headquarters located at 8665 Georgia Avenue in Silver Spring on Tuesday, May 24, at 5:30 PM.

The event is in collaboration with the Greater Silver Spring Chamber of Commerce and co-sponsored by NIH Federal Credit Union and will include a guided tour of the facility. CCI elected to purchase the building and move its headquarters to make room for a significant expansion of the organization’s flagship Silver Spring health center on Fenton Street. Currently, the administrative offices and health center share the space. “The need for health care in this area has increased since COVID arrived. We realized that the Silver Spring teams needed the entire space to deliver the care we strive to offer our patients,” said Dr. Sonya Bruton, CCI’s President & CEO.

Rockville

Back in January we let you know that Loft was closing its Congressional Plaza location in Rockville and that J.Crew Factory would be its replacement at 1637 Rockville Pike. The clothing store is now open. Prior to its opening, a Federal Realty Representative told us that they are “excited to welcome yet another favorite brand to Congressional Plaza. J.Crew will join a robust retail line-up including most recent additions Athleta and Lands’ End. J.Crew is expected to open in summer 2022, and will be located between Ulta Beauty and Appalachian Springs.”

The J.Crew Group  filed for bankruptcy in 2020 after a few years of struggles and being further battered by coronavirus store shutdowns. The company emerged from Chapter 11 bankruptcy in September with Anchorage Capital Group, L.L.C. as its majority owner. As of last year, the New York-based J. Crew Group operates 161 J. Crew retail stores, 144 Madewell stores, and 168 J.Crew Factory stores in the United States as well as websites for each brand. J.Crew has an existing location in Montgomery Mall and a J.Crew Factory location at the Clarksburg outlets.

Burtons Grill & Bar at 109 Commerce Square Pl at the Kentlands in Gaithersburg, which was originally scheduled to open in late May, will now be opening in mid-June, according to representatives from the location. We’re told the delay is due to shipping issues with some of the restaurant’s equipment. The restaurant is currently hiring and permanent signage was installed on the building earlier this month.  Menu items will include braised short ribs, filet mignon, chicken risotto, and market fresh seafood.

Gaithersburg

Twenty years ago, Kevin Munoz would help his parents clean an office building in Gaithersburg after they worked their full time jobs. They simply called the job “the part time”.  Kevin would help his parents vacuum, take out the trash and any other work that was required to help ease the workload. Fast forward to today, he is now part owner (with his partner Demetra Eftimiades) of a 3,500-square-foot gym right next-door to this office building.

The gym, PEAKPT FITNESS is located at 16021 Industrial Drive Suite 6 (located off of Shady Grove, near Nordstrom Rack and Best Buy.) and is officially opening its doors to the public on May 21 2022.

“Moreover, we are thankful for the swift action taken by law enforcement and their ongoing investigation of this deadly attack as a racially motivated hate crime.

“In the midst of our grief about this tragedy, we must all recommit ourselves to stamp out hate in all its forms and to continue the fight for gun control across our nation. We stand with the residents of Buffalo, and we encourage Montgomery County residents to remain vigilant and report all acts of hate or discrimination in our own community.”

At 12:51 a.m., MDTA Police Dispatch received a call for a vehicle traveling westbound on the ICC/MD 200 that had been possibly struck by gunfire. Responding officers located a gold 2007 Toyota Sienna van stopped prior to Exit 3 (Shady Grove Road).

An initial investigation indicates the driver of the Toyota van was traveling westbound on the ICC/MD 200 when he reportedly observed another vehicle pull alongside the passenger side of his van. The second vehicle was described as a black sedan that was being driven without headlights on. The driver of the van reported hearing a loud noise and seeing a flash from the black sedan. A passenger in the second row of the van indicated they had been struck by something. The driver of the van continued a short distance before pulling over and contacting police.

A representative from the Ladurée Paris location at 3060 M St in NW, DC tells us the upcoming Bethesda location at 4808 Bethesda Ave will be opening in about two weeks. Permanent signage was installed on the building earlier this spring. The French café and pastry shop has U.S. locations in New York City, Los Angeles, Miami, and currently has a pop-up/kiosk location inside of Montgomery Mall.
