Pepco sent a letter to the North Bethesda/White Flint community last week announcing that the final asphalt restoration on Randolph Road is expected to be completed this spring, following the completion of the tunnel excavation. All asphalt restoration of surrounding sections along Nebel Street and Parklawn Drive is scheduled to be completed by May 2022.
The Randolph closure, which began on August 30th last summer, was needed for underground electrical work as part of Pepco’s new White Flint Substation. Traffic heading westbound on Randolph Road is being diverted to Parklawn Drive and then directed to Rockville Pike (MD-355).
A private ambulance was carjacked by a man around 2:45am this morning near Shady Grove Hospital in Rockville.
The ambulance was stolen in the 14900 block of Broshchart Road, according to Montgomery County Police.
Montgomery County Police will be conducting a sobriety checkpoint tonight at an undisclosed location.

Shari’s Sweet Homes, a “virtual” Jamaican/soul food restaurant, will soon be available in Bethesda.
The food is designed to, “bring back memories of grandma’s Sunday dinner,” and the menu features items like curry chicken, jerk wings, Rasta pasta, oxtails, collard greens, candied yams, and banana pudding.
The 3,568 sf location that was previously home to JoS. A. Bank in the Shoppes of Olney will soon be filled by California-based Pacific Dental Services (PDS). The dental practice will be joining Quickway and Kung Fu Tea as the newest tenants in the shopping center that’s already home to CVS, Cava, Starbucks, Cafe Rio, and more.PDS has an office in Silver Spring known as Dentists of Silver Spring. It’s the only other Maryland location for the company which currently has over 850 supported offices in 26 states. An additional location with a Silver Spring address is planned for Aspen Hill later this year. Many practices take on a name that references the city/area the practice is in, so PDS will likely have an Olney-based name when it opens.
In June 1994, PDS supported its first dental practice in Costa Mesa, Calif. By 1997, the company had grown to support nearly 20 practices. The idea of having someone handle the dental practice’s administrative tasks was taking off with dentists. Dentists wanted to focus on patients and not the everyday aspects of running their own business. After graduating from UCLA in 1989, PDS Founder, President, and CEO, Stephen Thorne found himself in a tough job market and started working at his father’s Victorville, Calif. dental practice. “My father asked me to put a computer system into his practice, and since I was pretty good with a computer, he asked me to computerize his practice,” Thorne said.
