Normandie Farm Restaurant at 10710 Falls Rd. announced today that the current owners will be retiring and the restaurant will be temporarily closing on June 30. New ownership will be taking over and are expected to reopen the restaurant in late summer.
Normandie Farm was founded in 1931 by Marjory Hendricks in the midst of the Depression. It is one of a handful of restaurants that are still in existence from that era.
-Initially not a call for police because it was called in as an injured person.
-First law enforcement at the scene was a Sheriff’s Deputy assigned as a community engagement officer for Magruder.
According to WTOP’s Mike Murillo, alleged Magruder High School shooter Steven Alston Jr will remain held without bond. Alston Jr. appeared in front of a judge earlier today in Montgomery County District Court.
Friday’s shooting at Magruder High School was the first active shooting incident in the history of MCPS.
Update: Jasslyn Santos has been located safe and unharmed.

During today’s Montgomery County Council media briefing, Council President Gabe Albornoz and Vice President Evan Glass discussed Friday’s shooting at Magruder High School as well as tomorrow’s Board of Health meeting.
-Thanked first responders who acted quickly as it was happening, as well as the faculty and staff.
For the last few days we’ve been tracking a storm that’ll be headed up the coast Friday evening into Saturday.
Early on, the GFS had the coastal storm bringing snow our way, but eventually moved it out east, missing us with most of the moisture. Recent runs have tended west, putting us back into play for measurable snow. The Euro didn’t have this storm coming our way, but has also trended in the favor of snow lovers, though not as much as the GFS.
Montgomery County Public school students and staff members are being asked to wear Magruder High School’s colors – navy blue, grey, and white, on Tuesday to help unify the community after a 10th grade student was shot inside of the high school this past Friday.
Steven Alston Jr., a 17-year-old junior at Magruder High School, is facing charges of attempted 2nd degree murder, 1st degree assault, and possession of a dangerous weapon on school property, after allegedly shooting a fellow classmate in the school’s bathroom. Alston is currently being held without bond is expected to appear in court today, according to FOX5.
