Suspect Charged with Assault and Robbery; Arranged to Meet Victims on Dating App

Per MCPD: A Silver Spring man has been arrested and charged with assaulting and robbing victims that he met online.
Detectives from the Montgomery County Department of Police – Third District Investigative Section believe that there may be more victims and are asking for them to come forward. On Monday, October 10, 2022, an adult male victim contacted Montgomery County Police to report a robbery that occurred earlier. The victim stated that he had met the suspect, known to him as “Tommy,” on a dating app. The victim and the suspect, later identified as 27-year-old Brandon Darryl Kane, spoke on the phone. The victim agreed to pay “Tommy” money in exchange for sex. The victim paid for an Uber to pick up Kane, and the two met at the victim’s residence. Following a disagreement, Kane physically assaulted and stole money from the victim.

On Saturday, October 22, 2022, Montgomery County Police responded to a call for a robbery that just occurred. The victim, an adult male, stated that he had met the suspect on a dating app and the two exchanged messages.The suspect, later identified as Kane, and the victim agreed to meet. Shortly after arriving at the address given to him, the victim was physically assaulted by Kane, who then stole the victim’s wallet and forced the victim out of the apartment.

Kane was arrested on Thursday, April 6, 2023 and charged with two counts of robbery and first degree assault. Anyone who believes they may have been a victim by Brandon Darryl Kane, is asked to contact the Third District Investigative Section at 240-773-6870.
