Purple Line Construction Updates

Below are Purple Line construction updates in Montgomery County:


• Crews continue working on the Purple Line’s Silver Spring Library Station at the Brigadier General Charles E. McGee Library. Access to the library & surrounding businesses, including Bonifant St, will be maintained. Work may occur from 7 a.m. – 7 p.m., weekdays & weekends.

• On or about December 13, 2023, crews will implement new traffic pattern on Jones Mill Road. Traffic will be shifted to the newly completed eastern half of Jones Mill Road between Jones Bridge Road and Coquelin Terrace. A new work zone will be established for approximately one year on the western half of the roadway to complete the underpass. A newly constructed sidewalk established along the northbound travel lanes will be available for pedestrians. Please follow onsite signage.

• The pedestrian detour for the Sligo Creek Trail and Sligo Cabin Neighborhood Park remains in effect around the work zone and the adjacent parking lot. Please follow the posted signage. Work may occur 7 a.m. – 7 p.m., weekdays and weekends, as needed.

• Concrete placement is underway in with crews working on the cast-in-place (CIP) concrete walls southeast of the Talbot Ave bridge.
