City of Gaithersburg Announces Call to Artists For 2024-2025

The City of Gaithersburg’s Cultural Arts Advisory Committee invites individual artists and art organizations to submit applications to exhibit in the City’s art galleries during the Fiscal Year 2025 season.
Applications are now being accepted for July 2024 – June 2025 exhibitions, including:

“Winter Wonderland – Artistry in the Frost”
January – March 2025
Gallery: Arts Barn
Artwork selected will reflect winter subject matter. Two and three-dimensional work considered.

“Threads of Creativity – A Fiber Art Showcase”
March – April 2025
Gallery: Arts Barn
Artwork selected must be created using a fiber medium. Two and three-dimensional work considered.

“Cultural Kaleidoscopes”
February – May 2025
Gallery: Activity Center at Bohrer Park
Artwork selected will reflect the heritage of the artist. Two-dimensional work only.

“Big, Bold and Beautiful – The Written Word”
May – July 2025
Gallery: Activity Center at Bohrer Park
Artwork selected must be visual, but have a literary theme and be larger than 30″ on the smallest dimension. Two-dimensional, large scale work only.

Other Exhibitions Not Within Themes
In addition to the open-themed exhibits, the City may host one solo or small group exhibition at the 16 South Summit Avenue Community Room, featuring 10-15 pieces and one group/organization exhibition at the Benjamin Gaither Center featuring up to 30 pieces of artwork. These exhibits are open in theme and the artist/artist group may include their ideas in their proposal.

Special Calls
In addition to this general call to artists, the City anticipates issuing several special calls including for one to two youth exhibits for Gaithersburg students ages 18 and younger to be held at the 16 South Summit Avenue Council Chambers and one intergenerational exhibit for high school seniors and senior adults to be held at the 16 South Summit Council Chambers and the Benjamin Gaither Center. Those interested should sign up for the Visual Arts Newsletter at gaithersburgmd.gov or by emailing [email protected] to have your name and email added to the mailing list.

All applications and fees must be received by 11:30 p.m. on Friday, February 23, 2024, to be considered. All applicants will be notified by Monday, April 15, 2024, of submission results.
