Kensington Volunteer Fire Department Chili Cook-Off Takes Place Sunday, March 10

The Kensington Volunteer Fire Department is once again hosting its Annual Chili Cook-Off on Sunday, March 10th from 11AM through 2PM. This year, the Chili Pickup will again take place in a Drive-Through format. Online preordering is available now, but same day purchasing is also available.

The Drive-Thru Chili Pickup and same day purchases will be hosted at KVFD Station 705, located at 10620 Connecticut Avenue in Old Town Kensington. The Kensington VFD thanks the community for their support, and says that this year’s Chili Cook-Off funds will go toward their apparatus and operational expenses. The chili will be cooked by past years’ Chili Cook-Off contest champions, who are all Kensington Volunteer Fire Department members.

The Kensington Volunteers own two Fire Engines, two Ambulances, and several administrative and support vehicles. Montgomery County Career Firefighters staff the station weekdays, but volunteers fully staff the station nights and weekends–70% of total shifts are entirely staffed by KVFD volunteers. Units from Kensington Fire Station 705 responded to just under 5,000 calls for service in 2023.
