Thunderstorms Likely The Next Three Days; Tuesday Brings Highest Chance at Severe Weather

According to the National Weather Service (NWS), an active weather pattern next few days brings several rounds of thunderstorms to the area. The threat for strong to severe storms is marginal for today (Sunday) and Monday, then becomes higher for Tuesday.

Per the NWS, for today (Sunday), scattered storms are expected this afternoon into early evening in most of the area with strong wind gusts and small hail possible. Monday, should bring scattered storms in the evening into Monday night, with heavier rains in Virginia, south of US-48 & 1-66. Strong wind gusts, small hail, and localized flooding is possible.

Tuesday brings a “slight risk” for severe weather. Scattered to numerous storms move across the area Tuesday afternoon into Tuesday evening. Damaging wind gusts, large hail, and a brief tornado or two are possible. Localized flooding also possible.
