Update: Police Investigating Fatal Hit and Run Involving Pedestrian

Montgomery County Police have released additional information regarding a fatal collision involving a pedestrian that occurred on Friday, April 5 in Colesville.

Per the news release: Detectives from the Montgomery County Department of Police – Collision Reconstruction Unit (CRU) are investigating a hit and run pedestrian fatality that occurred near the intersection of Randolph Road and Kimblewick Drive on Friday, April 5, 2024.

At approximately 10:12 p.m., 3rd District officers and Montgomery County Fire Rescue responded to the location for the report of a hit and run collision between two vehicles and a pedestrian. The investigation has revealed that the driver of a white 2023 Honda Odyssey was traveling westbound on Randolph Road when, for unknown reasons, it mounted the curb and struck an adult male pedestrian, causing him to fall into the roadway. The pedestrian was then struck by a white 4-door Acura. The driver of the Acura fled the scene without rendering aid to the pedestrian.

The Acura may be a white 2009-2012 Acura TL, which is missing a fender line and may have additional damage on the front end, near the ground. The driver of the Acura was seen driving north on New Hampshire Avenue and then west on Randolph Road.

The pedestrian was pronounced dead at the scene. The decedent has been identified as 52-year-old Ronaldo Franzese of Silver Spring. This is an active and ongoing investigation. Anyone with information regarding this collision is asked to contact CRU detectives at [email protected] or (240) 773-6620.
