Home of the “Best Sandwich in Maryland” to Open Second Location

Isaac’s Poultry Market, which opened its first location at 12167 Darnestown Rd in Gaithersburg in February 2023, has announced it will be opening a restaurant in Burtonsville.

The restaurant will be located in the recently redeveloped Burtonsville Crossing shopping center, along side the upcoming Moby Dick and Eggspectation. According to an Instagram post, the store plans to open this fall.

Last year, Issac’s won the Restaurant Association of Maryland’s “sandwich competition” for its fried chicken sandwich that includes “Isaac’s sauce”, dill pickles, and broccoli slaw on sliced and toasted potato bread.

Isaac’s Poultry Market was opened by Rob Gresham, a lifelong MoCo resident and the former Director of Operations at CAVA. The restaurant features roasted chicken, wings, fried chicken sandwiches, salads, and frozen custard. Gresham came up with the concept with his 13-year-old son while quarantining during the COVID-19 pandemic. The restaurant is named after Isaac Newton, who discovered the laws of gravity, optics, and invented calculus while he was in quarantine during the bubonic plague in 1665.  “He invented those things, we invented a chicken restaurant.”
