13-Year-Old Identified as Person Who Made Lakelands Park Middle School Bomb Threat

Gaithersburg Police have announced the identification of the individual suspected of making a bomb threat directed at Lakelands Middle School in Gaithersburg on March 15

Per the news release: Detectives from the Gaithersburg Police Department – Investigative Section have identified a 13-year-old as the individual responsible for making a bomb threat against Lakelands Park Middle School on Friday, March 15, 2024.
On March 15, 2024, at approximately 8:43 a.m., Community Engagement Officers responded to Lakelands Park Middle School located at 1200 Main Street for the report of a bomb threat that was made on social media. After an evaluation of the threat and the known facts, the threat was determined to be not credible and there was no danger to the students and staff.
Since that date, detectives from the Investigative Section, with assistance from Gaithersburg Police Community Engagement Officers, conducted an investigation and identified the person who posted the threats. The investigation resulted in further evidence and after the 13-year-old admitted responsibility, detectives referred charges to the Maryland Department of Juvenile Services for Threats of Mass Violence.
