Takoma Park

The Takoma Park Police Department has shared that on or about December 20, 2024, north and southbound traffic on Carroll Avenue will be limited to right turns only at the intersection with University Boulevard (MD 193) for approximately five weeks.

The Montgomery County Police Department (MCPD) has arrested and charged a 30-year-old Laurel man with an armed robbery at the Tobacco and Vape Outlet in Gaithersburg on November 8, after identifying him through surveillance footage and executing a search warrant at his residence. (more…)

Nearly 20 years after closing the last CHI-CHI’S™ restaurant location, the popular Mexican restaurant chain is set to make a comeback thanks to a new agreement with Hormel Foods, owner of CHI-CHI’S™ trademarks. The deal grants Michael McDermott, son of CHI-CHI’S™ founder, use of the CHI-CHI’S™ name on physical restaurant locations which are expected to open in 2025. Locations for the upcoming restaurants have not been revealed, but the nationwide chain previously had two local restaurants right here in Montgomery County.

Maryland

Coach Allie Coyle became the first woman to coach a Maryland boys’ soccer team to a State Championship when Blair defeated Richard Montgomery 1-0 last month (see video below). On Monday, ESPN W highlighted Coyle’s accomplishment in a social media post that has received over 46k likes in 18 hours.
