With nearly 46% of all U.S. adults being unmarried but dating getting progressively more expensive, the personal-finance website WalletHub today released its report on the Best & Worst Cities for Singles in 2025, alongside its new Financial Secrets Survey, to help people maximize their chances of finding love without breaking the bank. One Maryland city was ranked almost dead last on the list.

DC Sports

The NFL has released the first Top Ten lists associated with Pro Bowl voting for the season. This list will change as additional votes come in during the remainder of the season, but so far eight Commanders have made it on the list at their positions:

MCPS

Updated to include letter to Wootton Community sent by principal Douglas Nelson on Monday afternoon.

Wootton High School was placed under a brief Shelter-in-Place Monday morning due to a bomb threat at the school, according to communication sent to parents and guardians at shortly before 8:30am. A second message was sent approximately 10-15 minutes later informing them that police cleared the school and directed administration to lift the Shelter-in-Place.

With entertainment accounting for 4.7% of the average person’s spending each year, the personal-finance website WalletHub today released its report on 2024’s Most Fun Cities in America to identify the most enjoyable and cost-effective places to live– with Washington DC coming in ranked 20th.

MoCo Government

The County Council will hold a public hearing on Bill 24-24, which proposes banning plastic carryout bags, taxing paper bags, and modifying related tax regulations, to January 14, 2025, at 1:30 p.m., with the sign-up deadline on January 13 at 2 p.m.

In October, Montgomery County Council Vice President Kate Stewart introduced the “Bring Your Own Bag” bill that would ban businesses from distributing single-use plastic bags and increase the fee on paper bags from five to 10 cents, with five cents allocated to the retailers and five cents allocated to the Water Quality Protection Charge fund.
