Neko Nook has officially opened in the space previously occupied by FD Book Cafe at 422 Main St in Gaithersburg’s Kentlands neighborhood. Niche has released its “2025 Best Public High Schools” rankings based on “rigorous analysis of key statistics and millions of reviews from students and parents using data from the U.S. Department of Education. Ranking factors include state test scores, college readiness, graduation rates, teacher quality, and high school ratings.” The top 25 public high schools in the state of Maryland, according to their list, can be seen below:

The community is rallying behind the family of 53-year-old Dominique Mwepu, who was killed by a driver in Germantown on Monday night. A GoFundMe fundraiser has been started to support his wife and son and help them with funeral costs.

Montgomery Parks

Montgomery Parks’ Jennifer Scully, Regional Operations Manager and waterfowl aficionado has put her stamp of approval on the winner of the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service’s 2024 Federal Duck Art Stamp Contest. Scully served as a judge for the prestigious national art contest, and with a panel of four peers selected this year’s winner, Adam Grimm of Wallace, South Dakota for his acrylic painting of a pair of spectacled eiders.
