The Watkins Mill cluster will host a Back-to-School Block Party from noon–3 pm on Saturday, September 14. The event will be held rain or shine at Watkins Mill High School, 10301 Apple Ridge Road in Gaithersburg.

Montgomery Parks has been given the go-ahead from the National Capital Planning Commission (NCPC) following its September 5 commission meeting to proceed with Vision Zero improvements on Little Falls Parkway. Design and permitting will continue this fall with anticipated construction to begin spring of 2025.

Bojangles returned to Maryland with its Frederick store opening on Monday at 1312 W. Patrick St. in Frederick, MD. It’s the first store back in Maryland after five locations closed in 2023, and the drive-thru line extended out into the street with some reporting the restaurant ran out of certain items. Montgomery Parks will shine a light on stories of the brave women of the Underground Railroad and the history of a 200-year-old former Quaker plantation in its September and October History Hour lecture series. Park historians will present the sessions on September 19 and October 17, from 6 – 7 p.m. at Josiah Henson Museum and Park.

The original “viral Dubai chocolate bar” was created by Fix Dessert Chocolatier, a UAE-based brand founded by Sarah Hamouda in 2021. The original bar, named “Can’t Get Knafeh of It” is a milk chocolate bar filled with pistachio cream and kataifi, and various versions of it are selling online for as much as $40 per bar– our very own @MrMoCo301 found a local version and gave it a try (video below).
