James Hubert Blake High School principal Robert Sinclair Jr. sent out a message informing the Blake community of a body found on school grounds early Saturday morning. According to the message, a jogger who was using the school track found an unresponsive individual on school grounds and attempted to revive the individual unsuccessfully. Emergency personnel were also unable to revive the individual. Additional information can be found in the full letter to the community, seen below:
“Dear Blake High School Families, Students and Staff
I must inform you that early this morning, a jogger using the track on school grounds found an unresponsive individual. 911 was called, and the jogger and emergency personnel attempted to revive the individual but could not. Police secured the area to begin an investigation; however, several students, staff and parents were arriving at school to participate in a Varsity Girls Lacrosse scrimmage between Blake and Damascus High students. Many of these school visitors witnessed the police activity.
Members of the individual’s family are in the process of being notified, but we can confirm that the individual was an adult and not a current or former Blake High School student. The school grounds have been cleared of police activity and our school is safe and available for use. You may be concerned about your child’s reaction to this news of a death on school grounds
