The Montgomery County Historic Preservation Office within the Montgomery County Planning Department unveiled two permanent historic markers today as part of The M-NCPPC’s Remarkable Montgomery: Untold Stories program, an ongoing project to install historic markers around the county that highlight underrepresented topics in local history.

Dirty Dough is coming to 36B Maryland Ave in Rockville Town Square. The cookie shop will be taking over the location that was the longtime home of Berry Cup, next to the vacant space that’s wrapped in HalfSmoke signage (presumably no longer coming to Rockville Town Square). Berry Cup Closed in the summer of 2022.

Crime

Howard County police have recovered approximately 15,000 stolen construction tools in what is believed to be one of the largest and most expansive theft cases in the region in recent years, the Takoma Park Police Department reported on Thursday afternoon.

Crime

A new law targeting illegal street racing and exhibition driving will take effect in Maryland on June 1, 2024. Participants in street racing will now face mandatory court appearances, and convicted violators could receive 8 or more points on their records and up to a year in prison.
