Community

The community is rallying around a Spencerville (between Burtonsville and Olney) woman after her home was completely destroyed in a large overnight fire early Sunday morning, leaving her with a total loss and decades of memories gone. A GoFundMe fundraiser has been stated to help with recovery efforts.

DC Sports

Major League Baseball will take over production and distribution of Washington Nationals local broadcasts beginning this season, a move that also brings a Montgomery County native into a prominent on air role, as Alexa Datt is set to join the Nationals broadcast team as the club’s new sideline reporter.

Crime

Montgomery County Police are investigating a string of overnight vehicle break-ins across parts of Silver Spring, with at least one suspect arrested and others still outstanding, according to 3rd District Commander Capt. Jason Cokinos.
