The St. James, one of the DC area’s premier athletic, wellness and entertainment brands, today announced that its third Performance Club will debut on January 28, 2023 in downtown Bethesda (6807 Wisconsin Avenue). Kensington

Updated at 9:20PM: MCPD released the following updated summary of events with new information regarding the lockdown and subsequent arrest of a student at Albert Einstein High School this afternoon. The original news release stated that the student taken into custody during the investigation was not being charged criminally.

At approximately 1:54 p.m. today, Montgomery County Police received a report of a student with a gun inside of Albert Einstein High School, located at 11135 Newport Mill Rd. in Kensington.

Chevy Chase

MCPD News Release 1.21.21: Detectives from the Major Crimes Division have charged Tyrece A. Jones, age 19, of the 1100 block of Kennebec Street in Oxon Hill, with the January 14 assault and armed carjacking of a 42-year-old female that occurred at a gas station in Chevy Chase. The investigation by detectives determined that at approximately 8:23 p.m. on January 14, the victim was at a gas station located at 8500 Connecticut Avenue and had just finished pumping gas into her car when the suspect, who was armed with a handgun, approached her.  The victim attempted to quickly enter her vehicle, but the suspect stopped her and began assaulting her.  The victim then attempted to flee on foot, but the suspect pursued her and continued to assault her.   During the assault, the suspect pointed the handgun at the victim and demanded her car keys.  The suspect obtained the victim’s car keys and struck the victim in the upper body with the handgun before stealing the victim’s car and fleeing the area.   The victim was treated at the scene for her injuries.

Germantown

Per MCPD: Detectives from the Montgomery County Department of Police- Major Crimes Division have arrested and charged a Germantown 15-year-old with a strong-arm carjacking in Germantown. On Thursday, January 19, 2023, at approximately 10:44 p.m., 5th District officers responded to the 19800 Century Blvd. for the report of a carjacking that just occurred.

The investigation by detectives determined that an adult female victim was getting packages from the mail when the suspect approached and offered to help with carrying packages to her Black 2012 Toyota Camry. After putting the packages in the trunk, the suspect went to the victim, who was walking down the handicap ramp with a walker, and snatched her car keys from her hand, and got in the driver’s seat. The victim was able to open the driver’s side door, but was overpowered by the suspect, causing the victim to fall and damage her walker. The suspect drove away and the victim immediately contacted police.

Silver Spring

Per MCPD: Detectives from the Montgomery County Department of Police- Major Crimes Division are investigating a home invasion robbery in Silver Spring. On Wednesday, January 18, 2023, at approximately, 8 p.m., 4th District officers responded to the 2300 block of Glenallen Avenue for the report of a home invasion robbery that just occurred.

The investigation by detectives has determined that at approximately 8 p.m., the victim heard a knock at her door. When she opened the door, an unknown male armed with a handgun, forced himself into her residence and demanded money. The victim complied with the suspect’s demands. The suspect then left the residence with an undisclosed amount of stolen money.

VASAP outreach volunteers donate their time serving victims of sexual assault and domestic violence. Volunteers provide 24-hour crisis counseling and companion services at County hospitals and police stations for victims of rape, sexual assault and domestic violence. Bilingual volunteers are encouraged to apply.

Through the course of the investigation, detectives reviewed home surveillance video and interviewed witnesses, and have determined that no criminal activity occurred.


Rockville
