MoCo Government

On Tuesday, the Montgomery County Council is expected to vote on Expedited Bill 30-25, which would remove the requirement for photographic evidence in complaints about gas-powered leaf blower use and clarify that a single complaint can initiate enforcement of the county’s ban.

The list, current below as of November 17, reflects the events reported so far, but MCPS notes that additional updates may be made throughout the year as schools finalize their schedules. Commanders Move On From Matt Gay, Marking Eighth Kicker Under Dan Quinn and Adam Peters

The Washington Commanders have released kicker Matt Gay, continuing a season-long search for stability at the position and marking the eighth kicker the team has cycled through since the arrivals of head coach Dan Quinn and general manager Adam Peters.

Students in Montgomery County Public Schools’ Automotive Trades Foundation (ATF) and Information Technology Foundation programs are preparing for their first public sale of the school year, showcasing used cars and refurbished computers they have reconditioned as part of their hands-on training. The sale will take place on Saturday, December 6, from 9am to 11am at Gaithersburg High School.

Beyond MoCo

Prince George’s County will join Montgomery County in prohibiting parking in bike lanes after the Prince George’s County Council unanimously approved new legislation designed to improve roadway safety. The move comes less than two weeks after the Montgomery County Council enacted its own countywide ban on November 4, 2025.

Kyriakos Savvas “Jerry” Tselios, a former co-owner of the longtime Wheaton staple Ferdinand’s Restaurant and a cherished member of the local Greek community, passed away peacefully on November 5, 2025. He was 77.
