Four Montgomery County men were arrested during a September 23 traffic stop on I-81 in Virginia after deputies recovered suspected MDMA, paraphernalia, and cash, with all four facing drug-related charges and two held without bond at the Rappahannock Shenandoah Warren Regional Jail.

Business

The count is now up to five Montgomery County stores that are set to close as part of a $1 billion restructuring plan announced Thursday by Starbucks. The company’s “Back to Starbucks” transformation, led by CEO Brian Niccol, involves shutting down certain underperforming North American coffeehouses and laying off workers.

Governor Wes Moore announced that Maryland’s Summer Electronic Benefit Transfer Program, known as SUN Bucks, provided $72.5 million in food benefits to 604,869 students across the state between June and August 2025, the highest participation and investment since the program began. The initiative, which automatically enrolled most eligible children, aims to combat food insecurity during summer months when school meals are unavailable. (more…)
