The Planet Aid thrift store and donation center at 5520 Randolph Rd in Rockville is preparing to close its doors, with plans to relocate to a new, nearby space. While the exact closing date is not yet confirmed, the organization expects to cease operations at its current location sometime in September.

On Friday, U.S. Senator Chris Van Hollen (D-Md.) released a statement regarding Kilmar Abrego Garcia’s release from custody. In March, while residing in Beltsville, MD, Garcia was deported to El Salvador despite a 2019 court order protecting him from removal and was later held in custody there. Following court rulings, including one by the U.S. Supreme Court, he was returned to the U.S. in June to face human smuggling charges.
On Friday, August 22, Montgomery County Police Department (MCPD) 3rd District officers recovered a stolen vehicle and arrested the driver in Downtown Silver Spring near Colesville Road and Fenton Street. (more…)
