Flower Hill

Progress is being made at North Pointe at Flower Hill, a new 16,000-square-foot retail and restaurant center at 18251 Flower Hill Way in Gaithersburg. Located behind Gentleman Jim’s, one of the sister properties to this project and other Flower Hill developments, North Pointe is set to bring an exciting mix of dining and service options to the area.

Maryland

Maryland Attorney General Anthony Brown and a coalition of 21 attorneys general submitted a letter opposing a proposed HUD rule that would repeal Affirmative Fair Housing Marketing regulations, arguing the rollback would undermine efforts to prevent housing discrimination and promote equitable access to federally assisted housing.

Restaurants

Terra Gaucha Brazilian Steakhouse, established in 2015, opened its first location in Jacksonville, Florida. The founders aimed to introduce an authentic Southern Brazilian churrasco dining experience to the United States. As we reported in June 2024, the restaurant will expand into Maryland, recently receiving a permit to start construction at Rockville’s Twinbrook Quarter development, which also hosts the county’s newest Wegmans.

Governor Wes Moore announced that eligible Maryland households will receive increased energy assistance benefits through the Office of Home Energy Programs to help offset rising utility costs, with expanded eligibility and higher benefit amounts taking effect in Fiscal Year 2026. (more…)


Crime

The Prince George’s County Police Department’s (PGPD) Financial Crimes Unit (FCU) recently arrested two suspects in connection with a carrier scam that involved the impersonation of Federal Trade Commission (FTC) agents. The suspects are 30-year-old Zheng Xie of Flushing, New York, and 27-year-old Jianwei Wang of Monterey Park, California.
