Kings Dominion and Soak City have announced a temporary closure this weekend due to a nearby water main break that has disrupted the local water supply. The popular amusement park and water park will remain closed on Saturday, June 21, and Sunday, June 22, as a result of the issue.

Harris Teeter, located at 11845 Old Georgetown Rd. in North Bethesda, is set to close permanently next month, according to several employees we spoke with on Saturday afternoon.
The National Weather Service (NWS) has issued an Extreme Heat Watch for Montgomery County and surrounding areas, effective from 11am to 9pm on Monday, June 23.
Jamie McIntyre, former CNN military affairs and senior Pentagon correspondent, as well as former Washington Examiner senior writer for defense and national security, will speak about how the events on 9/11 and the aftermath ushered in a “post-truth” era in America. Jamie has written extensively on this topic and draws from a life-long career in journalism, including his time at the Pentagon on 9/11.

A Maryland State Trooper was hospitalized and later released after being struck by a vehicle during a crash investigation on I-495 early Saturday morning. The driver of the vehicle, identified as Teo Kim, may have been impaired, and charges are pending.
Starting Sunday, June 22, Metro announced it is “enhancing the travel experience with new service improvements – including longer weekend hours, more frequent Red and Silver Line service during peak times, and new split Silver Line service.”
Robert E. Peary High School was located at 13300 Arctic Ave. in Aspen Hill, MD. It opened in the 1960 and closed in 1984 primarily due to declining enrollment. A Facebook group with over 4,000 members keeps its memories alive.

According to a report by Washingtonian, the popular eatery that has been endorsed by the likes of the late Anthony Bourdain is now searching for a location in Maryland, with Montgomery County (Rockville) as a potential spot.

Virginia’s first Buc-ee’s will open on June 30th at 838 Friedens Church Rd. in Mount Crawford, VA. It will be located at the exit 240 interchange on Interstate 81 near Harrisonburg, VA. Fans are already planning to camp out for the 6am opening, and a ribbon cutting kicks off the day at 10 AM, with live music, free samples, and giveaways adding to the celebration.

According to Variety, Maryland native Jon Bernthal will reprise his role as Frank Castle, aka The Punisher, in Sony and Marvel’s upcoming film Spider-Man: Brand New Day. Bernthal first took on the role in Netflix’s Daredevil and later starred in The Punisher.
