Ten Maryland public high school students from Howard and Montgomery counties are among the 2025 U.S. Presidential Scholars Program semifinalists, the Maryland State Department of Education (MSDE) announced.
Jamie McIntyre, former CNN military affairs and senior Pentagon correspondent, as well as former Washington Examiner senior writer for defense and national security, will speak about how the events on 9/11 and the aftermath ushered in a “post-truth” era in America. Jamie has written extensively on this topic and draws from a life-long career in journalism, including his time at the Pentagon on 9/11.

The Triumph Trek at the Rio is the ultimate celebration of strength, recovery and hope — and everyone is invited.
On Sunday, September 20, from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m., Adventist HealthCare Rehabilitation and Adventist HealthCare Home Care Services will gather at Rio Lakefront in Gaithersburg for an untimed walk-or-wheel around the accessible lakeside path. This is not a race. Scooters, wheelchairs, walkers, strollers and every pace are welcome, and no one finishes last.

Barstool Sports Baltimore and Barstool Sports DMV have released their list of the “Top Ten Crab Cake Spots in Maryland.” The local Barstool outposts created their rankings based on social media comments.
The Maryland Department of Transportation State Highway Administration (MDOT HSA) has released additional information on the closure of the merge lane from the local lanes to the main lanes of northbound I-270 at Shady Grove Road, which is part of the next phase of the agency’s ramp metering project in Gaithersburg. The closure will support the installation of a ramp metering system at the I-370/MD 200 interchange, with paving and intermittent lane closures scheduled through summer 2025.
Montgomery County held its seventh annual Pride Flag Raising Ceremony in Rockville to kick off Pride Month, joined by local officials, Congressman Jamie Raskin, and LGBTQ+ community leaders. The event featured keynote speakers from Montgomery County Public Schools and the MoCo Pride Center, and also marked the launch of this year’s “Ride With Pride” bus, which will run throughout June to celebrate and support the LGBTQ+ community.
