The Environmental Finance Center at the University of Maryland announced that the Town of Poolesville was one of 17 Maryland municipalities honored at the Sustainable Maryland Awards Ceremony at the Maryland Municipal League’s annual Fall Conference last month. The Gaithersburg Police Department responded to a disturbance in the 300blk N. Summit Avenue on Tuesday, December 24, 2024, at approximately 10:15pm, where they found a blood-covered man who later died in the hospital after receiving emergency medical treatment. Gaithersburg police wrote “The Maryland Attorney General’s Independent Investigations Division (IID) is investigating a police-involved in-custody death following an incident on December 24.”

Kevin Plank, the founder of Under Armour, has a story that begins in the DC suburb of Kensington, Maryland. Born the youngest of five brothers to William and Jayne Plank, Kevin’s upbringing was steeped in the values of hard work and community service. His father, a notable real estate developer who passed away in 1993, was responsible for local projects like the Al Marah subdivision (Bethesda), while his mother served as mayor of Kensington for eight years and later directed the Office of Legislative and Intergovernmental Affairs under President Ronald Reagan.
