Newly announced, the festival will open on Friday evening, September 11, with a special tribute honoring the 25th anniversary of 9/11. All three bands performing that evening include veterans and active-duty military members.

On August 22, the New Neighbor Interfaith Alliance (NNIA) will host the 2026 Set Them Up for Success Volleyball Tournament and Family Fun Day from 9 am-4 pm at the Interdenominational Church of God in Gaithersburg, gathering volleyball teams, faith community members, and the public to raise funds to help recent refugees in Montgomery County attain independence.
An interfaith non-profit alliance of 37 faith communities and civic groups, NNIA raises funds to help resettled refugees with rental assistance, deferred medical care, English language skills and job placement. They also hope to expand their volunteer numbers to help more beneficiaries with job assistance, reliable transportation, and mentoring.

The Washington Commanders battled it out with the Dallas Cowboys on Sunday, with the Commanders winning 23-19 and securing the 6th seed in the NFL playoffs. Cowboys star pass rusher Micah Parsons had two sacks in the game and took to his podcast to share his opinion on Washington’s playoff game (video below).
As the storm comes to an end, we wanted to share the unofficial observations taken during the past 24 hours by trained spotters for the National Weather Service. This article shows snow totals from different times throughout the evening, and not all areas have observations reported:
Metrobus expects to operate under a Severe service plan on Tuesday, Jan. 7 and will increase service as roads become passable throughout the day. Severe service will reduce the number of Metrobus routes from 193 to 42.
Montgomery County government has a website that can answer the question of “who plows my street?”, shows you snow removal status, and allows you to submit a snow-related service request to the county or state.
Governor Wes Moore has urged Marylanders to avoid non-essential travel during the ongoing winter storm to allow highway crews to clear roads, emphasized the importance of safety amid bitter cold temperatures and low wind chills, and highlighted coordinated state agency responses, including emergency operations, snow removal, and support for vulnerable populations.
