The Montgomery County Police Department (MCPD) will conduct a sobriety checkpoint at an undisclosed location on Friday, December 13, 2024, starting at 10 p.m., focusing on enforcing impaired driving laws. The locations of checkpoints are selected based on statistics based on impaired driving arrests.

UPDATE: Grand Opening Weekend has been slightly postponed. Date TBD

L&L Hawaiian Barbecue, located at 785 Rockville Pike, Suite G, in the Ritchie Center in Rockville, has announced its grand opening weekend will take place January 3 to January 6. The restaurant will occupy the space previously home to Superbowl Noodle House, which closed permanently in March. As part of the celebration, L&L Hawaiian Barbecue will raffle off a free iPhone 16.

MCPS

The Blake High School athletics department announced the passing of former P.E. Teacher, soccer coach and assistant principal Rudy Tyrell after a battle with Leukemia. Tyrell also served as assistant principal at Gaithersburg High School and most recently returned to MCPS as an acting administrator at Seneca Valley High School after initially retiring after 30 years of service with MCPS in 2020.
