Updated to reflect total of eight people transported to hospital due to the crash
Ridge Road in Damascus is currently closed just north of High Corner Street following a serious crash involving two vehicles that took down a utility pole. The roadway will remain closed even after emergency crash response clears for utility pole replacement.
Six were transported to a trauma center, with one person suffering from priority 1 trauma and one with priority 2 trauma (other six were priority 3, non-life threatening injuries). According to an update by Montgomery County Fire and Rescue Services (MCFRS) Chief Spokesperson Pete Piringer, MCFRS evaluated 8 patients who were all transported to a local hospital.
One occupant’s arm was pinned, but the person was quickly extracted once the Rescue Squad arrived on scene. Montgomery County units were assisted on scene by units from the Mount Airy Volunteer Fire Company as well as Frederick County’s Green Valley fire station.
