Saturday Morning Update for Sunday-Tuesday Storm

A Winter Storm Warning has no been issued, effective 1:00am this morning until 12:00am Monday, with 4-8” of snow expected. This currently includes MoCo up to Gaithersburg with the Watch remaining for areas north. This afternoon’s guidance will dictate if it will expand to include the whole county.

We are now within 24 hours of the start of what should be our biggest storm in a while.

Most of us will wake up to see it snowing outside. It should snow into Sunday evening, dropping between 3-6” along the way.

We’ll then see a little lull and that’s when things get tricky. Without getting too technical, here are a few possibilities for Monday:

1. We see a couple inches in the second round, which will go through Monday and into Tuesday morning…adding to whatever we get tomorrow.

2. We barely see any in the second round and our totals remain at what fell on Sunday.

3. We get a similar amount to the first round (another 3-6”).

3. Everything goes right for snow lovers and we see an additional 6-10” fall and our totals are 9-16”+

Our featured photo, also seen below, has the National Weather Service showing us get 6-8.” The high end (10% probability) has us getting 9-13” depending on your location in MoCo. The low end amount (also a 10% chance) has 4” for pretty much all of MoCo.

WUSA9 has 3-5” for tomorrow snow only, but had t provided forecasted totals for Monday into Tuesday.

Fox 5 is sticking with 4-8” total by Tuesday morning.

The Washington Post’s Capital Weather Gang has half of MoCo at 4-8” and the upper half at 5-10” with boom abd bust scenarios.

We’ll have an update later today with the latest!
