Yamil Hernández Announces Candidacy for Gaithersburg City Council

Gaithersburg, MD – Gaithersburg Resident Yamil Hernández formally announced his candidacy for Gaithersburg City Council today. Yamil is the Chief Business Officer of ExeGi Pharma, and is excited by the opportunity to serve Gaithersburg in a new capacity. 

Yamil and his wife, Lismarie, live in the Kentlands, where he is the Chair of the Board of Trustees of the KentlandsCitizens Assembly (KCA), a member of the City’s Animal Control Board, and a member of Montgomery’s UpcountyCitizens Advisory Board (UCAB). In addition to his service to the community, he was previously commissioned in the Coast Guard Reserves as an Officer. He holds a B.S., M.S., and an M.B.A. 

Yamil plans to run a vigorous campaign engaging with residents and dialoguing on what they would like to see improved from their local government. Yamil wants to use his experiences as an entrepreneur, military officer, and community volunteer to help the City improve and modernize services, be more responsive to community needs, and increase transparency.

“I’m running because I believe in our community and the potential our City has to be a leader in the nation for responsible growth and equitable community development,” said Yamil, “I want to build on the progress made by the City in recent years, and continue to show that Gaithersburg is a great place to live, work, and start a business.”

Yamil is hosting an official campaign launch event on Sunday, July 18 at 5:00PM at the Kentlands Community Clubhouse at 485 Tschiffely Square Rd, Gaithersburg. Members of the public are invited, refreshments will be provided.
